When Dara, a transgender woman in Phnom Penh, first sought hormone therapy, she was met with confusion and judgment.

Today, thanks to gender-affirming care initiatives in Cambodia, Dara receives treatment from healthcare workers trained to support her identity with dignity.

It's part of a growing movement.

Programs like the LGBTQI Empowerment Initiative (LEI) are tackling stigma and improving access to health services for queer communities.

And community-driven groups like Men’s Health Cambodia are stepping up with HIV care, mental health support, and even vocational training for LGBTQ+ youth.

Even international allies like the UN are pushing for family recognition laws to help queer Cambodians live safely and openly.

There’s still a long road ahead. But from Phnom Penh to rural provinces, there are more safe spaces, stronger voices, and brighter futures than ever before.

Because health is not just about medicine—it's about being seen, heard, and valued.
