When I arrived at Angkor Wat before sunrise, I wasn’t just chasing the perfect photo—I was searching for a deeper connection.

As the sky turned from deep violet to gold, the ancient stones lit up, and something inside me did too. In that quiet moment, I felt seen—not just as a photographer, but as a queer traveler embraced by the calm and history around me.

Later, in Siem Reap, I met other LGBTQ+ travelers at a cozy, rainbow-flagged café. We shared stories—some light, some heavy—but all filled with joy and resilience. It struck me how community can grow anywhere, lit by acceptance and open hearts.

Photography gave me a new way to witness Cambodia’s warmth—from the serene faces of monks to the laughter echoing from vibrant gay bars in Phnom Penh. This journey wasn’t only about capturing beauty—it was about finding my place in it.

In Cambodia, I didn’t just take photos. I found belonging, in the temples, the people, and the light we all share.
